Let's take care of those edges ladies!

Ok. I will be the first admit that my edges need work. After having my son, my hair seemed to fall out all over. I don't do as many wash and go's these days because I am using more protective styles. I am also using a lot of jamaican black castor oil. This post was prompted by a photo I saw online. See below:

My first thought when I saw this picture was DAAAAAMN! Truthfully, it can happen to anyone. I am not sure why her hair looks likes this, but pulling on those edges with weaves, extensions, etc can be hazard to the health of those edges. I decided to take a look in the mirror and ask myself: what am I doing to protect those edges?

The answer:

I wrap my hair with a silk scarf at night, use jamaican black castor and avoid tight braiders like the plague. However, in my daily hair routine, I think that I may be pulling too much. So here is a picture of a gentle style I chose to showcase my natural hair without being brutal to my edges. See below:

I achieved this look by creating a large side bang that I flat twisted away from my face. The other side and back are placed in a ponytail. The hair sticking out of the ponytail was also twisted and wrapped around itself. I used the side twist to wrap around my ponytail.

What are you doing to protect those edges?
